Is America Becoming a Pagan Kingdom?

It must be some kind of joke to suggest the United States of America
is turning resolutely towards paganism, the antithesis of
Christianity—correct? Sadly, this is exactly what appears to be quickly
happening to this most Christian of all nations in terms of origin and
practice. We see this in our views of government, family, economics,
freedom, law and especially religion. We are now presented with a kind
modern homo paganus, a modernized version of ancient man.

This article is a little long, but very thought provoking.

Yes, but it has nothing to do with gay marriage or morals (outwardly deciding what is good or bad). It has more to do with our values, which come from within. We struggle with idolatry.

From the time I was 16 until I was 20 I worked at Kmart, and at that time "Black Friday" was just retail jargon. If I used the phrase outside of work I always had to explain what it meant. This past year we had Black Thursday and people in my own family spent the morning camped out in front of Best Buy to buy a smart TV. I don't even know how they became convinced they needed these new TVs. Over the years we've all collected Blue Ray players or Xboxes with internet connectivity and a DVR is almost standard equipment from the cable company nowadays so their current setup does far more than these new TVs, but somehow they were convinced they had to have these. Then you've got the Mac fanboys that have to have the lastest iphone, ipad, ipod, MacBook and whatever the latest e-reader is when they can get a free 4g phone that does everything they use those things for with a faster connection.

Remember the 2009 movie The Joneses? That's not even funny anymore. It has become mainstream.

I'm starting to think Christmas is the ultimate pagan holiday in disguise. Its all about idol worship.

I do not think America is becoming pagan like the Ancients. Could we go there? Yes but I don't think we are there yet.
